On the 12th of September 2009, the Clarksville Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu Club hosted an annual training event featuring Sensei Michael Kriegisch, (Kudan, Hanshi) of Kriegisch Martial Arts, St Mary's PA. Sensei David Fivecoat (Yondan, RHKK) hosted members of Kriegisch Martial Arts (St. Mary's, PA lead by Sensei Kriegisch), the Savannah Okinawa Kenpo Kobujutsu Club (Savannah, GA lead by Sensei Jeremy Cook), the Clarksville RHKK Club and the Baize Martial Arts Kobujutsu Club (both of Clarksville, TN and lead by Sensei Dave Fivecoat). The primary goals of the event were to continued sharing of knowledge and camaraderie between RHKK family members, to ensure Odo lineage kata standardization, and to test and promote 4 individuals to Yudansha ranks. At this event Sensei Jeremy Cook (RHKK Savannah, GA) was tested and promoted to Nidan in Ryukyu Hon Kenpo Kobujutsu. Shirley Talbott, Laura Schroeder, and Kevin Thomas for the Baize Martial Arts Kobujutsu Club were promoted to Shodan in Ryukyu Hon Kobujutsu. Kata standardization and classical kata classes were conducted by Sensei Kriegisch and a derivative bunkai class was presented by Jeremy Cook and Stuart Chatham of the Savannah dojo. This event was a joyous day set in perfect weather at the home of Sensei David Fivecoat. Great practice, conversation, and sharing of ideas happened and with any luck this event will be repeated next year around this same day. Thanks go out to everyone for a great day and for excellent company. Regards-Dave Fivecoat. Posted 13 SEP 09.
